How to fix Oculus Quest 2 Not Connecting to PC or Phone?

These solutions are tried and tested, and they have worked for several users worldwide. Surely, one of the solutions will work for you as well.

Check your System specifications:

Before we get into detailed solutions, you should first check your system. Oculus 2 has some minimum system requirements, and if your system does not meet the minimum requirements, you cannot use this device. So if you are having trouble connecting the device to your PC, there is a chance your PC might be underpowered.

The minimum requirements for Oculus Quest 2 are:

  • OS: Windows 10
  • Port: USB 3.0
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 or an AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 970, 1060 3GB or better. That includes all GTX 16-series graphics cards besides the GTX 1650. Any from the AMD RX 500, 600, 5000, and Vega series.
  • RAM(Memory): 8GB

To check your system specifications, Open up My computer, right-click once the window opens up with all the drives and choose Properties. There you will get all the information about your system.

Once you have ensured that your device meets the minimum requirements, you can move ahead with the solutions mentioned below.

Check your USB port and cable:

Disconnect the cable between the device and your PC and connect it again. If you are using some cheap knock-off cable for the connection, you should ditch that and get yourself the official cable from Oculus. If the price on the official cable is too much for you, then find alternatives for it that are tried and tested by other users.

Once you have the right cable, try connecting the cable to different USB ports on your system. There is a chance that you were using a USB 2.0 port all this time, and that is why you were having trouble connecting your device to your PC. Since you need a USB 3.0 port for the device to work, you need to try all the USB ports available if you are unsure which one is USB 3.0. If you are certain that a particular port is 3.0, connect your cable to that port immediately.

If you can still not connect your device to your PC, try the next solution mentioned below.

Update the Oculus Software:

To use the Oculus link on your PC, you need the latest version of the Oculus App installed on your system. Just head over to Oculus’s Support page and find the latest stable version available for installation.

Reinstall Quest Software:

There is a chance that there might be a glitch with installing the Quest software on your PC, which is why you are facing trouble using it. To fix this, uninstall the app from your computer entirely, restart your computer and then install the latest version all over again.

If that does not help with your case, try the next solution mentioned below.

Update the device drivers:

There is also a chance that you might be using faulty or outdated graphics and USB drivers, and that is why you are having trouble connecting the Oculus Quest 2 to your PC. To fix this, you need to update your PC’s USB and graphics drivers.

There are two ways to update the drivers on your PC. You can either do it manually or let an application do it for you automatically.

To update the drivers manually, head over to your manufacturer’s website, find your system’s model number, and based on your specifications, you will see the option to download drivers for your PC. Download the latest USB and graphics drivers that you see here on this list. Once you have the drivers downloaded, install it on your computers like any other application or software, and then restart your computer.

To update the drivers automatically, install a third-party utility application that scans your computer for missing or outdated drivers and then installs them at the click of a button. Several applications let you do that, and you can choose one based on your preference. Yes, these applications do charge a bit for their services, but it’s a worthy investment since you do not need to worry about outdated drivers on your computer ever.

If even that does not help with your connectivity problem, try the next solution mentioned below.

Log out of your account:

This may sound simple, but it has worked wonders for several users. Simply log out of your account from your PC application, restart your computer, and then log in to your account again.

If this does not work with your connectivity problem, try the next solution mentioned below.

Some users who have shifted from the Oculus Air link to Oculus wired link have encountered problems with their connectivity. If that is a possibility in your case, turn off Air Link in your application right away.

Now try connecting the device to your PC again. If it still does not work, try the next solution mentioned below.

Factory reset the Quest:

This can fix most of the common issues with Quest 2, but you need to know that this will also clear out most of the game data. This means you will have to download all your games again. If you do not have a problem, go ahead with this solution.

  • Press and hold the power button and the volume button until the device turns on.
  • You will see a list of options. Go over to “Factory reset” and press the power button to select it.
  • Choose the “Yes, erase and factory reset” option and press and power button again to confirm your action.

Once the reset is complete, your device will be like a new one. Set it up again like you did when you first bought it and check whether your connectivity problem is resolved or not. If you are still facing issues, try the next solution mentioned below.

Disable USB power settings:

As a final solution, you can give this a try as well.

  • Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard, and it will open up the Run dialog box.
  • Enter “devmgmt.msc” in the Run dialog box and click on Ok. This will open up the Device Manager.
  • Double click on Human Interface Devices to expand it.
  • Then right-click on the USB Input Device and choose Properties.
  • Click on the Power Management tab and uncheck the box next to the option to save power.
  • Then click on Ok.

Now try connecting your device, and it should work without any issues.

So that is how one can fix connectivity problems between the Oculus Quest 2 and a PC. But what about the same issue with a phone. Let’s take a look at that.

System requirements:

Just like how it was with the PC, the same is the case with the mobile app. You need to have an iPhone running on iOS 10 or later or an Android running on Android 5.0 or later.

Update the application:

Next, you need to ensure that the application for Oculus installed is indeed the latest version available. You can go to the application store and check if an update for the application is available or not.

Use the built-in troubleshooter tool:

The setting up process for the Oculus application can be complicated for some users. If the setup is done without any issues, one should be able to use the built-in troubleshooter feature.

  • Sign in to Oculus with Facebook.
  • Set up a VR profile.
  • Adjust preferences and privacy settings.
  • Create an Oculus Store PIN.
  • Add your payment information.
  • Now, select your headset model in the app.
  • Your headset should automatically pair up or ask for a pairing code that you saw in VR.
  • After the pairing is done, tap on “Controller or Headset Problem?” and then select “Connect Wi-Fi.”
  • Now follow the on-screen instructions, and that should resolve the problem for you.

So this is how you can fix the connectivity issue with your smartphone.
