Different types of action blocks can stay in effect for different intervals of time.

Action Block Types:

Action Block:

This block will put a block on all your activities. You won’t be able to comment, like, follow, unfollow, or post any photos/videos.

Like Block:

This type of block will only disable the like feature on your Instagram account. This shows up mostly when you like too many posts within a short interval of time.

Comment Block:

This is similar to a like block that will disable the comment feature on your Instagram account. Like the like block, the comment block is also the result of too many comments within a short interval of time.

Duration for blocks:

The action blocks durations vary depending on the suspicious activity detected. It also depends on the number of offenses.

Temporary Action Block:

This is the most common and shortest action block that can last for a few hours to a full day. It is best to wait this out.

Action Block with an expiration date:

This type of block will show you a date up to which the block will stay active. It is sometimes one week, two weeks, or even more. If you feel like you have been blocked for no reason at all, you can tap on the “Tell Us” option that will show up on your screen. The Instagram team will take a look into the matter.

Action Block with no expiration date:

Unlike the previous block, which comes with an expiration date, this block does not have a timestamp. The block can stay active for a week, a month, or even longer. This is a block you should be worried about since you can’t wait it out. There is also no “Tell us” option that you can use to inform the team about a wrongful block. You can only report manually, and later in the article, we will see how you can do it.

How to fix an Instagram Action Block?

Now we will see all the possible solutions one can try to get this ban or block lifted.

Report the problem:

  • Open up the Instagram application on your smartphone.
  • Go to your profile tab.
  • Tap on the menu(three horizontal lines) icon at the top right corner.
  • Tap on the Settings(gear) icon.
  • Navigate to Help > Report a Problem.

After that, follow the onscreen instructions to let the Instagram team know about your issue with the action block.

Switch Mode of connectivity:

Sometimes the block could be related to your IP address too. So try switching the mode of connectivity you are using for the internet connection. If you are using a WiFi network, try switching over to mobile data or other WiFi networks.

If this does not help, try the next solution.

Use another device:

Sometimes the block can be device-specific as well. If the ROM on your smartphone is buggy and it is taking over your activities on Instagram, then the social media platform will also term that as suspicious activity. In that case, try switching over to another device and use Instagram on that.

The primary reason behind a block is bot-like activity. But if you have your Facebook account linked to your Instagram account, that will act as a mode of authentication. If you have any other social media accounts, you can link them too. The more accounts you link, the more authentic your account will be

Wait it out:

If none of the solutions mentioned here works for you, there is no other option other than waiting it out. If you can’t wait it out, the only option for you is to create a new account altogether. You can keep logging into your older account from time to time to see if the block is lifted or not. Until then, you will have to make do with the new account.
